Great stories come about in Taverns. Here, heroes gather. Here, secrets get sold. Here, we fall in love.

But this is not just a story about the heroes. This is the story about who they come back to - the place they've turned into their home. This the story of the Tavern itself - it's staff, it's walls.

Downstairs at the Tavern is a Penned to Good Society (PTGS) Game ; specifically based on a certain expansion called Downstairs at the Abbey. In this expansion; players flip between playing the household and the staff of a particular home, taking place in Regency England. Downstairs at the Tavern reworks this premise - players will gather and flip between playing the staff of an adventuring groups' favorite tavern, and those adventurers themselves. It aims to tell the hidden stories, show the daily lives - of those big and small, and demonstrate how important any one person can be. It is inspired by the fantasy genre, and draws on the reader's knowledge to supplement this - but an intense knowledge of the genre is not needed to play. A copy of Good Society, however, is needed to play this, or at least a basic understanding of the rules.

[This work is based on Good Society (found at storybrewersroleplaying.com/good-society/) a product of Storybrewers Roleplaying, developed and authored by Hayley Gordon and Vee Hendro.]

As of 5/13, Downstairs at the Tavern has been remodeled to a 0.2! Huge thanks to my playtesters, and Michelle Y. Kim for taking on the labor of taking my newest PDF and reformatting it into something much prettier.

Please see the post in comments below for a more in-depth description of what's changed since the first version - but also! There's a Playsheet now! If you do end up playing Downstairs at the Tavern or reading though it, I am still looking for Feedback, so I would to love to hear anything you have to say.
